Background

The NDC Partnership works with national governments and international institutions to fast-track climate and development action. The members of the NDC Partnership work together to provide technical assistance and capacity building in over 100 countries. The Partnership increases alignment, coordination, and access to resources to link needs to solutions through in-country engagement and knowledge & learning. By sharing lessons learned by members and resources from our network of knowledge partners, we drive and inform effective climate action worldwide.

At the 4th Capacity-building Hub, the NDC Partnership will unpack and enhance the collective understanding of Action on Climate Empowerment (ACE) and its importance in NDC implementation, including its linkages to other whole-of-society and climate-related agendas such as gender equality and youth engagement.

In support of these objectives, the NDC Partnership will share concrete trends of ACE-related capacity building need requests from its Country Members. The session will aim to discuss the range of stakeholders whose work is part of ACE in both the international and country-level contexts, and it will seek to identify concrete ways for stakeholders to further and more effectively engage with ACE-related activities and objectives.

The approach of the session will be to present the basics of ACE and its concrete linkages to NDC implementation and other cross-cutting climate agendas. In order to facilitate common understanding of ACE, the session will aim to include diverse voices who can ask questions and share concrete examples and peer learning from NDC Partnership members about ACE capacity building needs and improving ACE implementation.

Objectives

  • Present the basics of ACE
  • Discuss the linkages between ACE, NDC implementation, and cross-cutting agendas and stakeholders
